Free fun!
Where do you take your family for free fun in the Twin Cities? Where do you and your friends like to go when you’re broke but want something to do?
There are so many places to go for free – if you want to see animals, go to Como Zoo in St. Paul (donation suggested), if you want to be out in the woods, go to a state park, or if you want some entertainment, see a free concert. Do you know there are a LOT of free recitals offered at schools and churches? College music students have to give recitals for their degrees, and there are plenty of free piano or organ recitals at churches (as an organist myself I know this). Check out local college and church websites for some ideas. There is tons of free fun in the Twin Cities!
I can’t emphasize how wonderful a resource the LIBRARY is, too. All libraries are different but in our local library, there are books, CDs, workout DVDs and movies GALORE. My husband borrow STACKS of movies from the library. (Some I’m surprised are even available there considering their content.) They even have new releases for $.50 a day! We don’t even pay to rent movies anymore. You can learn a foreign language (I went through a whole Spanish audio program from the library this summer), watch a DVD about home repairs, find a TON of new recipes for every taste in your family, keep the kids occupied with kids books and music (even for babies!), and so much more! I know someone who works as a children’s librarian at my local library and she does storytime there and at local schools. Entertaining AND educational for your kids!
