Minnesota is becoming more and more homebound during this COVID-19 pandemic, which should feel like second nature for us where the air hurts our face much of the year.
But we are also a state with many fun things to do year-round, from festivals to museums to concerts and so much more!
So how do we make the most of what our state has to offer while things are cancelled or closed and we’re stuck inside?
Well, there are many FREE Minnesota-themed things to do from your home, ALL of which are educational, and I’ve compiled what I’ve found here!

The Bakken Museum – With their new online learning resources, see how magnets work, try a design challenge, and learn about the history of science fiction. The Bakken Museum’s digital learning content provides lots of ways to engage with science, technology, engineering, and math wherever you are!
Minnesota Historical Society – There are many interactive and educational resources about Minnesota.
Broken Promises – An interactive history video about the Dakota people.
Minnesota Map – The name of a city, lake or river will appear at the top – click on the dot on the map where it is!
Minnesota Games – This page has a variety of Minnesota games like “Hangmouse in Minnesota” and “Fun with Minnesota Vocabulary.”
DNR EagleCam Live Stream – This one is really cool. You can watch a live video of an eagle! Three eggs just hatched so this is a great time to check this out! You can also watch past videos of the eggs being laid and hatching.
DNR Falcon Live Stream – Currently you can watch two courting peregrine falcons in the nesting box. (You can’t always see them, though.)
International Wolf Center – Located in Brooklyn Park.
Lucky Dog Pet Lodge – Located in Bloomington, this pet lodge has several indoor cameras so you can watch dogs playing live! (They sure do look like lucky dogs.) Available 7am – 5pm.
Mississippi Headwaters – Lake Mississippi in Itasca State Park.
Big Bog State Recreation Area – A live view of Upper Red Lake.
Minnesota Department of Transportation – Watch live cams on highways throughout the state.
Duluth Canal Cam – Watch the Canal Park harbor in Duluth as ships come in and out!
Duluth Bridge Cam – A nice view of the Aerial Lift Bridge in Duluth!
Duluth Hillside Cam – I like this one as it moves back and forth.

Silver Bay Marina – The water is very calming!
Burnsville – Buck Hill Ski Area in Burnsville.
Minnesota Zoo – Check out their Facebook page for daily live videos!
Como Zoo – A streaming live view, though you need to refresh it to see movement.
Union Depot – Union Depot in St. Paul has two live cameras where you can view passing trains and the Mississippi River.
Minnesota Concerts, Performances and Lessons
MPR – Minnesota Public Radio is the best place to listen to recordings of local performances including the Minnesota Orchestra.
MPR Classical Music Lessons for Kids – MPR has new classical kids music lessons online every day during this time!
Minnesota Orchestra – The Minnesota Orchestra has a free musician and instrument guide.
St. Paul Chamber Orchestra (SPCO) Concert Library – The SPCO has a Concert Library online where you can enjoy free streaming and concerts online anytime! This is a great resource for anyone to watch or listen to performances.
