Can you believe Christmas is next week already?!?!?!?
This whole Christmas season has been flying by so fast that I suddenly realized this week that our kids haven’t even seen Santa yet!!! [Read more…]
My kids and I, along with some other mom bloggers in the area, got a super fun and unique opportunity to visit the Play from Scratch YOXO toy factory in St. Paul this week.
Play from Scratch YOXO is a local company that makes products – TOYS – that encourage creative open-ended play. They had just moved their factory to a bigger location and we were among the first to see it!
If you haven’t visited French Park in Plymouth, I highly recommend checking it out sometime – while it’s still fun to be outside and the s-word (the white stuff from the sky) isn’t flying yet (quick – think warm, sunny thoughts again now).
I’ve taken my kids here a couple times and the pics here are from a visit with Thor in August (hence all the GREEN). It was a lovely day, Heidi was at Vacation Bible School, and Thor and I had some time to find some frugal fun to fill the time. So we checked out French Park, had a picnic lunch on the nice benches, and Thor burned off a bunch of energy on the creative play area.
French Park is part of the Three Rivers Park District, and it’s located on the north side of Medicine Lake. In the summer the beach is a must – the lake is big enough for boats to race around but also makes a great swimming beach on hot days. [Read more…]
Our son Thor just had his 4th birthday party at Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline Park in Minneapolis, and it was a blast!
A quick video from the party:
Previously I shared my fun experiences with my kids at Sky Zone in both Minneapolis (Plymouth) and St. Paul (Oakdale). It’s such a great place for all ages to literally bounce off the walls! I can’t say enough about how much I’ve enjoyed taking my kids to Sky Zone, especially because it’s not only fun but affordable! There are always great deals available. There are locations nationwide – for the Twin Cities, just follow them on Facebook (Sky Zone Minneapolis or Sky Zone St. Paul) or go to either the Minneapolis or St. Paul website and click on Promos & Deals! Our family visited Afton Apple Orchard in Hastings, MN with some friends a couple of weeks ago and we had so much fun! It was our first time here so everything was new for us.
Afton Apple Orchard is about 30 minutes southeast of the Twin Cities. It’s on 190+ acres with 13 varieties of apples, plus strawberries, raspberries and pumpkins. At the entrance there are sampling stations where you can try the various apples available that day, plus apple cider and other treats. We tried a few and loved the cider so much we bought some to take home.
I highly recommend tasting the apple varieties when you arrive so you know which kinds you want to pick later. [Read more…]
HOW IT ALL BEGAN
It all started at about 3:00pm on Friday, September 5th when I was working at my church and my 3-year-old son was at daycare down the hall from me.
The phone rang and it was one of the daycare staff. “Um, Lisa. You know your son’s head-scratching that we noticed earlier today and mentioned to you? Well, we checked his head during naptime and found some creepy crawlies. We need to bring him to you – now.”
I was just finishing up working in the office that day and had 3 music rehearsals with musicians from my church scheduled back to back that afternoon (I also work as an accompanist). These musicians graciously volunteered to play with me for a special recital at an assisted living home the next day that I had coordinated weeks ago.
“No!” I thought – “Not now”! Not today! I don’t have time for lice!” My husband was at a meeting at the time and couldn’t be reached. So the musicians showed up but patiently waited as I frantically made calls (like our clinic) and researched info online to find out what to do. I had lice once as a kid, but my kids? No clue what to do! [Read more…]
I took my kids to the Chipotle Cultivate Festival this past Saturday, August 23rd in Loring Park in Minneapolis and we had SUCH a fun time!
Going through all the pictures I took and thinking about all the unique, interactive and educational activities there were, plus the many free samples we got, I’m genuinely bummed that it’s all over. I don’t feel this way about many events – but this Cultivate Festival in Minneapolis was organized so well, and offered so much for everyone, that I wish it could have been all weekend or longer! I had the privilege of going on an exclusive media tour of the NEW Hard Rock Cafe at the Mall of America today, and am very happy to give you all a sneak peak inside the restaurant as it prepares to open later this month!
I’m so excited about this restaurant – the only Hard Rock Cafe in the Twin Cities (there was one in Minneapolis that closed a few years ago)! It’s a fun, visually stunning collection of music memorabilia from past and present. [Read more…]
Our family had so much fun in Duluth this weekend at the North Shore Scenic Railroad’s Day Out with Thomas™: The Thrill of the Ride Tour 2014!
Thomas the Train is visiting Duluth the first two weekends in August – that means you still have time to go! The Thrill of the Ride Tour continues this weekend, August 8 – 10 and if you can go, we highly recommend it! [Read more…]
