Free haircuts are being offered for women in St. Paul on March 30 – 31! Read on to learn how to sign up.

Bumble and bumble is hosting a class at Salon FiveTwoSix in St Paul and they are seeking female hair models (ages 18+) to attend and receive free professional haircuts. The class will be held March 30-31, and the students performing the cuts are all licensed stylists from salons around the country.

Operation Glass Slipper March 15 – 16 at Southdale Mall

Operation Glass Slipper’s 2014 Princess Event is being held at Southdale Mall, 3rd Floor, this Saturday, March 15 and Sunday, March 16.

Operation Glass Slipper provides free prom gowns and accessories to high school girls in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area whose financial circumstances make it impossible to attend prom due to cost. Each girl is referred to Operation Glass Slipper by an adult (school teacher, clergy member, etc.) who is aware of the student’s need. Visit their website for more info!

Hy-Vee Grocery Stores to open in Twin Cities

Here’s a press release that just came out from Hy-Vee, Inc.

Hy-Vee, an employee-owned grocery retailer, is planning to open grocery stores in the Twin Cities area. This will affect all grocery deal-seekers as new stores = new ways to save on your groceries!

Currently, there are 17 Hy-Vee grocery stores in Minnesota, spread throughout the lower portion of the state including Albert Lea, Faribault, and Mankato.

Try Hockey for Free Day is Saturday, March 1st for kids ages 4 to 9

Saturday, March 1st, 2014 is Try Hockey for Free Day.

On March 1st, 2014, Minnesota Hockey and over 55 local associations across the state will encourage kids, ages 4 to 9, to come to a local participating rink and try youth hockey as part of the NHL’s Hockey Weekend Across America, presented by CCM, and USA Hockey’s Try Hockey For Free Day. All locations have a limited amount of equipment available for use.

There are a couple dozen participating rinks in the Twin Cities area. Select a location and register online.

Tech Fest Family Event at The Works Museum on Saturday, February 22nd

There’s a fun family event happening at The Works Museum in Bloomington this Saturday, February 22nd from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00p.m.:

Tech Fest, the Twin Cities’ biggest family engineering event celebrating National Engineers Week, will feature hands-on activities and demonstrations from The Works Museum and science and engineering partners from all over the Twin Cities. It’s the 10th Annual Tech Fest event at the museum.

Activities this Saturday will include Tech Take-Apart, where kids destroy old electronics to explore components inside, plus there will be high school robotics teams and demonstrations from corporations. [Read more…]

Now that Thor, our 3-year-old, is big enough to attend Disney on Ice I’m excited to take both of our kids. Thor recently went to Disney on Ice for the first time at the Xcel Energy Center and like his big sister Heidi, he was mesmerized and loved it, so I know they’ll both love going again!
