It’s almost 2023, but there’s still fun to be had in the Twin Cities this year! Here are some events happening the weekend of New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day!
Friday, December 30th
Night Trains. 3:00pm. Twin City Model Railroad Museum, St. Paul. $15.00 per guest.
Saturday, December 31st – New Year’s Eve
New Year’s Eve at Pinstripes Edina. Ring in the new year at Pinstripes in our bistro and bar or out on the bowling lanes and bocce courts. Our full dinner menu will be available featuring favorites like the Lobster Mac & Cheese, Chicken Parmesan, Cast Iron Ribeye Steak and more. Complimentary champagne for adults and sparkling juice for children will be provided along with party favors for all. Because one balloon drop isn’t enough, we have two! In addition to the midnight balloon drop there will be an 8:00 PM balloon drop for families. Live music starts at 8:00 PM and will keep the party going into the new year!
Noon Years Eve at Como Zoo. 10:00am – 1:00pm. St. Paul. On December 31 and January 1 from 10am – 1pm the Visitor Center at Como Park Zoo and Conservatory will be filled with family-friendly entertainment for a special Noon Year’s Party. Kids can make their own count-down craft, take a silly selfie at our selfie station, get creative at our face painting station, and visit the Xcel Energy station to learn about the small steps you can take at home to help conserve energy and make a big difference for the plants and animals we all love. Get a free LED light bulb while supplies last! There will be games, dancing, zookeeper talks, giveaways, and contests as we count down to the Noon Year. RESERVATIONS REQUIRED.
Jazzberry Jammin’ New Year’s Eve Party. 12:00 – 4:00pm. Crayola Experience, Mall of America. Bloomington. DJ dance party, mid-day countdowns, and special crafts. Regular admission required.
New Year’s Eve at the ROC. December 31st, 12:15 – 2:15pm. St. Louis Park. Before you go out for the night, come skate at the ROC with music and refreshments. The event is for all ages.
Rock the Rink. 1:00 – 4:00pm. Champlin Ice Forum. Residents are $6 per skater and non-residents are $10 per skater. DJ and balloon drop!

New Year’s Eve at Winter Lights 2022. December 31st, 5:00 – 10:30pm. Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. $30.00.
Sparklerama. 6:00 – 9:00pm. Minnesota Children’s Museum, St. Paul.
New Year’s Eve Moonlight Circus. 6:00 – 10:00pm. Mall of America. Free.
Candlelight & Ice New Year’s Eve Program. Wood Lake Nature Center, 6710 Lake Shore Dr S, Richfield. 5:00pm – 9:00pm. Reservations are full but walk-ups are still welcome as space allows.
Monday, January 1st – New Year’s Day
FREE First Day Hikes at one of 14 Minnesota State Parks. Join a Minnesota state park naturalist for a one-and-a-half to three-hour guided hike through a park. You’ll burn off some of those holiday calories, cure cabin fever, and enjoy the winter landscape and wildlife. First Day Hikes are part of a nationwide initiative led by America’s State Parks to get people outdoors, with over 400 hikes scheduled this year in all 50 states. Kids and adults all across America will be participating in First Day Hikes, getting their hearts pumping and enjoying the beauty of a state park.
