Whew. Valleyfair has done it again. They’ve put together a spook-tacular Halloween event and it’s now open! PLUS – I’ve found CHEAP, discounted tickets!
I visited Valleyfair with my kids during the “Tricks and Treats” opening weekend, and enjoyed some food samples and exploring the park. Most of the rides are open, but everything is Halloween-themed and very family-friendly.
The difference this year – 2022 – is that there is no ValleyScare. Instead, their Tricks and Treats event is for everyone, whether you want some scares or just a fun, candy-themed season.
There ARE some scares at Valleyfair, but I wouldn’t call them too scary for kids. For example, there are costumed “monsters” and spooky characters throughout the park, but there’s no blood, gore or truly scary sights.
The park is divided into 2 “lands” – The Land of Tricks, and the Land of Treats.
There are new foods this year, which you can view on their website. I was able to attend a special preview for these foods and yes, they were all delicious!
I tried (clockwise from top right):
- Blood bag Empanada – empanada stuffed with tomato sauce, cheese and sausage. A good Italian dish.
- The Count’s Cooking – spicy bean chili with cheddar cornbread. This really wasn’t too spicy.
- Pumpkin Swirl – pumpkin buns (like cinnamon rolls) baked with spiced icing
I also tried “Follow the Trail Mix” with candy and pretzels, and various drinks.
There are also many more yummy food options like a chicken pot pie, and a meatloaf “TV dinner” which I saw at Coasters, a restaurant within the park.
Notice that the food is available throughout the park at different food locations in the park. Just look for the “Tricks and Treats” logo on the menu. Each location has different items to order.
The Tricks and Treats event has entertainment throughout the park, like live music on various stages. Wherever you go you can hear someone performing! We heard a band, plus a brass trio playing as they walked through the park, and then at Everfall, we heard a duo singing some mellow and sweet tunes with guitar.
For kiddos, there are fun activities like booths where you can make slime, and masks!
Little kids will LOVE Sweet Tooth Acres. When they enter they get a bag to fill with treats, and there are 8 “houses” that they can knock at to go trick or treating.
Each house has a theme (hint – don’t expect much at the “Sweet Nothings” house – ha).
The sweetest characters roam around the park! Lots of photo opportunities here!
Puppets! There were cute entertainers everywhere and we saw a couple with fun fall-themed puppets.
There were so many nice touches and decorations here like the lighted pumpkins.
Stay from day to night here so you can see the place light up!
There is SO much more here to see. Valleyfair’s Tricks and Treats event is truly immersive and makes it the ultimate trick AND treating experience this season!
