Did you know that there are different things on sale each month of the year?
A while back I put together a Month to Month Shopping Guide that lists the best items to buy each month to save money!
Here I am highlighting the best items to buy this month!
What to Buy in February to Save Money
Valentine’s Day candy, flowers, long-stem strawberries (for dipping in chocolate!) – these items of course will be cheapest right after Valentine’s Day
Fragrances/perfumes – these are typically popular as Valentine’s gifts
Furniture – New designs debut in the spring time so furniture stores must make room
Humidifiers are marked down this month and next
Winter apparel goes on sale
Tax software is on sale for early bird tax filers
Electronics – TVs are still on sale in early February for the Super Bowl. Plus new models of electronic equipment were announced at last month’s annual International Consumer Electronics Show so buy last year’s models at a discount
Super Bowl foods and snacks! Sales on anything party-food. Also read my Frugal Super Bowl Party Guide here:
Dates to note
President’s Day – 50% off clothing, shoes and home items at thrift stores like Savers and Unique Thrift Stores.
National Frozen Yogurt Day is February 6th! Watch for deals and freebies.
Seasonal produce on sale:
Similar to January!
The cheapest, best produce to buy right now are broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, citrus fruits, kale, leeks, parsnips, rutabagas, sweet potatoes and turnips!
What NOT to Buy this month:
Gym memberships. January was the best time to join a gym, and the next sales won’t probably come again until spring when many decide to get their exercise outdoors.
Spring apparel. Though some spring styles will be coming out now, sales typically will come in May or June.
Luggage. If you can wait, sales for luggage and travel gear tend to come in March.
