We recently headed to Austin, Minnesota for a much-needed weekend getaway, and oh my gosh, we had such a fun, relaxing visit! (Watch for my full review soon!)
Have you ever been to Austin, Minnesota? It’s about 90 minutes south of the Twin Cities, and it is home of Hormel Foods and the SPAM Museum. We enjoyed so many attractions here, but we also enjoyed a comfortable stay at a brand new hotel, the Cobblestone Suites & Hotel!
The Cobblestone Hotel & Suites just opened up this summer of 2020, and has many amenities for an affordable price, so we were excited to try out this new hotel for our stay.
Cobblestone Hotel & Suites is located right near both interstate 90 and highway 218, and is just a few minutes from downtown, so it’s super convenient.
Cobblestone has a beautiful. elegant lobby with Seattle’s Best coffee available 24/7 (of course I had some :).
There’s a neat fireplace in the lobby area.
Our room was a two queen studio room on the 3rd floor. It was comfortable, modern and spacious.
My kids really liked the living area nestled in between the bed area and the bathroom. It even had a separate TV!
Everything in the room was so clean and modern. I liked that the sink area was inside the bathroom – sometimes it’s outside the bathroom, which then means you don’t have privacy brushing your teeth or putting on makeup.
All the rooms have a refrigerator and microwave.
My kids loved exploring the room!
In the evening we swam in the pool, which was actually really warm (which we loved!). It’s also a saltwater pool instead of using chlorine, so it’s gentler on the skin. When we went no one else was there so we had the pool to ourselves!
Swimming Pool, Fitness Center and More
We slept so well that I was able to get up early to use the fitness center, which is on the first floor across from the pool. It has a treadmill, exercise bike, weightlifting bench and different sets of weights. I worked out in here for 30 minutes which got me super hungry for breakfast!
Even during COVID, Cobblestone has a free breakfast for guests. Some options aren’t available, like the waffle maker, but there was still a lot to choose from including:
- omelets (they’re prepared and refrigerated; I had one and heated it in the microwave)
- mini waffles
- yogurt
- cereal
- oatmeal (instant)
- bagels
- muffins
- bread
- fruit
- milk
- juice
- coffee
- tea
There were a variety of spreads and condiments including jellies, peanut butter, syrup, etc.
Breakfast is included with your stay. But if you want other food, drinks or toiletries during your stay, there is a little store next to the front desk where you can get items anytime.
Overall we had a wonderful, relaxing stay at Cobblestone Hotel & Suites in Austin!
And the front desk staff were so helpful – we needed a few things during our visit and they were always so nice and prompt to take care of our needs.
COVID
Right now during COVID, Cobblestone is doing a lot to keep everyone safe and healthy. Masks, social distancing, and extra sanitizing are just a few ways they’re doing so which you can read about on their website.
Pricing
Cobblestone is an upper midscale hotel chain, with rooms starting at under $100 a night. They have discounted rates for AAA and AARP members. Our room was worth approx. $100 for the night (it varies based on how many are in the room and the day/time of year), which is a good value for all it included!
