There are many things I’ve missed during COVID-19, and one of them is going to movies!
But thankfully you can still see new movies – just digitally!
On Friday, July 31st, a new, uplifting movie called The Secret: Dare to Dream will be available on Premium Video on Demand, and moms – get your girlfriends together for this one! It is totally worth seeing!
I had an exclusive opportunity to see the movie in advance at home. I watched it with my mom and we both absolutely loved it! My mom said it was a beautiful movie, and I agreed.
Without spoiling anything, I want to share my review of this movie, plus a taffy recipe (you have to see the movie to understand why)! AND I have a digital download of the BOOK to give away!

This is the “official” synopsis of the movie:
This feel-good romantic drama stars Katie Holmes, Josh Lucas, and Jerry O’Connell. It explores hope and gratitude in one’s darkest days, and reminds us that it’s never too late to believe again.
Based on the groundbreaking best-selling book about the law of attraction by Rhonda Byrne, The Secret: Dare to Dream follows Miranda (Katie Holmes), a young widow trying to make ends meet while raising her three children and dating her boyfriend (Jerry O’Connell). A devastating storm brings an enormous challenge and a mysterious man, Bray (Josh Lucas), into Miranda’s life. Bray reignites the family’s spirit but, unbeknownst to Miranda, also holds an important secret — one that will change everything. With its timeless messages of hope, compassion, and gratitude, The Secret: Dare to Dream is an inspiring and heartwarming film that shows how positive thoughts can transform our lives.

My Review
The Secret: Dare to Dream is a fictionalized adaptation of the popular book “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne. I haven’t read that book or this novel, but as many know, the original book from 2006 was a self-help bestseller.
This movie is sweet, comforting, and uplifting. It’s definitely a chick flick and a romance, and reminded me of the kind of movie you’d see on the Hallmark channel, but better. 🙂
Katie Holmes plays Miranda, a frazzled mom who is widowed, raising 3 kids on her own, and struggling to make ends meet in a house that’s falling apart as she drives an old, worn van and tries to figure out how to pay for a root canal. She literally runs into the mysterious Bray, played by the super handsome (!) Josh Lucas, who actually has a reason to be seeking her. Clearly they are drawn together, and it’s heartwarming to see their relationship develop as his calm, resourcefulness balances out her stressful, weary self. However, Miranda has a boyfriend – Tucker, played by Jerry O’Connell – who is a wee bit concerned about who that new guy is in Miranda’s life.
It’s not the most realistic story – for example, I found it odd when a pizza guy was delivering pizzas in a hurricane as if nothing was happening outside. But there was enough “real” in this movie to connect with the audience – like the attraction, and especially the frazzled, busy mom, which I and many others can relate to!
Watch the movie!
The Secret: Dare to Dream will be available to rent for $19.99 through On Demand platforms such as Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, VUDU and cable providers starting Friday, July 31st!
It’s 101 minutes and is rated PG.
