In the past few years, our laptops have gotten slower and slower (zzzz), as technology tends to do!
My kids each have one for schoolwork at home (and for some fun kid-friendly websites), and it was just time to replace them both. One had pretty much stopped working, and the other was just too painfully slow. We realized that the RAM for both was only 4 GB (at least 8 GB is ideal), and they were getting pretty old (one was 10 years old), so we figured we got all the life out of them that we could.
We had purchased them used at Device Pitstop of Maple Grove, which buys used devices as well, so we decided to head in to see how much we could get them for and what newer ones we would find!
With practically everything closed right now due to the pandemic, it was so nice to drive up to Device Pitstop which was totally open for business like normal. Computers and other devices are certainly essential right now!
We brought our old laptops up to the counter to sell them, and the team member scanned them to see their condition. As he did this, we browsed the store.
There were a ton of laptops for sale, in all price ranges. There were several macbooks for $149.99, and many other laptops in all price ranges, as low as $99.99.
There are some great deals for smaller laptops, and many were 30% off.
All computers had Windows 10 operating system installed, which was important since older systems are no longer supported.
All the laptops were really nice, but we narrowed our search down to two – one Lenovo ThinkPad and one Dell laptop with an Intel Core i5 processor and touch screen, both with 8 GB of RAM. They were in great shape, and so much faster than the old computers.
The laptops we were trading in were scanned and ready for us. We were offered $150, or $75 for each, which I thought was great for the age, and wear and tear. We accepted and used this toward the new laptops. (The new ones totaled about $400 after 30% discounts on both.)
Their crew also took care of wiping the hard drive clear of data for us (we didn’t have much on them).
The whole transaction was slick and easy, and we added wireless mouse, since they gave us a deal on that with purchase of a laptop. We were all set and on our way.
Since we traded in our laptops a week ago, everything has been working smoothly. They do offer a 90-day warranty on all computers and accessories though for peace of mind, which we love.
