FlyOver America is a new ride experience at the Mall of America. It’s a flight simulator ride like no other- riders sit in chairlift-style seats and are lifted in front of a large, spherical screen. Then you’re given a birds-eye view of many landscapes across America, including the Statue of Liberty, Niagara Falls, and some areas of Minnesota!
Our family enjoyed the ride recently and loved it! First you view a short safety video that was created like a music video, featuring 3 American styles of music (it’s kind of lame but fun). Then you are seated by row and up you go! The views are breathtaking – we felt like our feet were going to touch the top of a mountain. And the special effects are pretty neat – wind, scents and mist are used throughout the ride.
The ride is 10 minutes – the longest ride of its kind. Over 50 hours of footage was captured by helicopters and jets throughout 2015 and then edited to make sure it would be an unforgettable experience for guests.
You can FlyOver America or, of course, in person. The costs are:
- $16.95 for ages 13+
- $12.95 for ages 12 and under (must be 40″ tall to ride)
You can reserve your arrival time (in a 30-minute window) to guarantee quick entry.
