Last month I introduced you to Rita’s Italian Ice, where you can get cool treats like sweet, smooth Italian Ice and creamy Custard (my favorite) in dozens of flavors like Birthday Cake and Cookie Dough! There are seven locations in the Twin Cities including Maple Grove, Stillwater, Bloomington, Apple Valley and Eagan.
Well, if enjoying a frozen treat on a hot July day isn’t the perfect reason to visit, there’s another reason to stop by Rita’s this month.
Rita’s Wall of Hope for Childhood Cancer
During the month of July, Rita’s Italian Ice will be raising money for Alex’s Lemonade Stand, a non-profit organization dedicated to finding a cure for all childhood cancers. Named in honor of the late Alexandra “Alex” Scott, the Foundation has raised more than $75 million toward fulfilling Alex’s dream of finding a cure, funding over 375 research projects nationally.
Each Rita’s location is selling paper lemons for $1 each. You can personalize your lemon and then post it on the store’s “Wall of Hope” to demonstrate the local community’s collective support. In the past 10 years it’s been a huge success – Rita’s has collectively raised more than $4.2 million for pediatric cancer research and has become a leading corporate fundraising partner for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. Take that, childhood cancer!
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Themed Frozen Drinks of the Week
I stopped by this past week to support this great cause AND try out one of their Alex’s Lemonade Stand themed Frozen Drinks of the Week!
This week the flavor was Mango Lemonade – mmm! So refreshing on a hot day. Watch out for other flavors like Cherry Lemonade!
Be sure to stop by Rita’s Italian Ice this month to check out their specialty drinks and to help support Alex’s Lemonade Stand!
