My family and I recently attended a performance of Annie Jr. at Stages Theatre in Hopkins, now running through July 31st. Though it’s only an hour, we all agreed it was so heartwarming and enjoyable, and we recommend it for all families!
Annie Jr. is basically a condensed version of the Annie story, about plucky and optimistic orphan Annie and her adventure as she finds a new home with billionaire Oliver Warbucks and his secretary Grace.
The talent was incredible – between the impressive singing abilities of the cast and the choreography of scenes like “It’s a Hard Knock Life.” Caiah Rodgers, who plays the lead role of Annie and is only 14, wowed the audience with her smiles and perfect tone during songs like “Tomorrow.”
Bruce Rowan, who played Daddy Warbucks, a performer in many Stages Theatre productions, along with Rhianna Picht, who played Grace, were a likable duo, as were all the characters – including Marilee Mahler, who played Miss Hannigan. Even Annie’s lovable dog, Sandy, makes a couple appearances.
