I’m always on the lookout for local businesses that offer both great quality, value and FUN for families. And I love getting to know business owners and employees who love what they do and do it well.
That’s why I’m pleased to introduce you to a neat business in Bloomington called Big Frog Custom T-Shirts & More, and to share with you my list of 6 reasons Twin Cities families should know about them!
I first heard about Big Frog earlier this year from my work with Twin Cities Kids Club. We ordered our Twin Cities Kids Club t-shirts from Big Frog and were happy with our experience and how they turned out:
So, recently my son and I stopped by Big Frog Custom T-Shirts & More to chat with their employees and learn about the fun work they get to do.
Big Frog in Bloomington is a franchise owned by Kevin Mendel, a former director of home delivery, supply chain solutions and transportation operations at Best Buy. When Kevin was laid off in 2012 after 26 years, he consulted with a franchise broker to explore options for business ownership. He narrowed his choices to about 7 including a sign company, a painting company and one specializing in emergency restoration/cleaning. When custom t-shirt company Big Frog came up as an option, it was a no brainer. “I wanted to be able to have fun with what I’m doing.” he said.
With a team of four, “Where Fun is Always Celebrated!” as a motto, and customers, calls and orders coming in continuously, I could see that the Big Frog team members thrive at what they do, enjoy it, and love to make their customers happy. They’ve even been voted Best Specialty Clothing Store in Bloomington the past 2 years in a row!
What does Big Frog offer for local families?
Throughout the year, there are countless occasions for families to order custom t-shirts and apparel, including:
- vacations and family reunions in the summer
- spirit wear for schools in the fall
- gifts in the winter, and
- sports teams in the spring!
Big Frog specializes in custom apparel for lacrosse, baseball, softball, football and many other team sports.
It’s super easy to create colorful, custom apparel, too! There are tons of options in the store – My son loved the little t-shirt color samples (he wanted to take them home for his sister’s dolls!).
For apparel, Big Frog offers more variety than I even knew existed, from cotton sports shirts and cotton ringer shirts for men, to fitted t-shirts and strappy tanks for women. They offer a variety of apparel for youth and infants (including bibs!), and even pets!
So why should families think Big Frog when looking to order custom t-shirts (& more)?
6 Reasons Twin Cities Families Should Know About
Big Frog Custom T-Shirts & More

At Big Frog there are no minimums for orders – you can order 1 shirt or 100. That’s why it’s ideal for families just needing a small handful of shirts for an event like a bridal or baby shower, a reunion, or so much more.
2. It’s Affordable.

Wondering about cost?
One white t-shirt with a Direct to Garment full color print is $17.99. Lighter shirts are $18.99.
PLUS – Big Frog is offering Twin Cities Frugal Mom readers 10% off! Just mention Twin Cities Frugal Mom to get the discount.
3. Oodles of options.
In addition to their direct to garment printing (which is how our Twin Cities Kids Club t-shirts were made), their other popular options include embroidery, heat transfers, and screen printing.
4. Fast turnaround.
Most orders can be ready in 24 hours! With their cool direct to garment printer, they’re able to do much of their printing in-store.
5. Free t-shirt program for schools.
Big Frog offers a free t-shirt program to reward students for academic achievement. The school decides what the achievement is – and all the student has to do is bring in a certificate to get their free t-shirt!
Big Frog can customize a t-shirt for an event or organization and it doesn’t cost anything upfront. And they even create a website for your organization, so that people can go to the website and order their own apparel. (Kevin showed me a website they set up for an organization and I could see how visitors can preview how their apparel will look – it was super easy!) Afterward, Big Frog sends the organization the profits.
