Admission to the Bakken Museum is FREE this week from Tuesday, July 22 to Saturday, July 26 for the Best Days of the Bakken! The Bakken is open its regular hours (10:00 – 5:00 T, W, F, & S and 10:00 – 8:00 Th) but hours of free programming each day are 11:00 to 4:00.
We visited the Bakken Museum a couple months ago for their free second Saturday event. We had fun exploring their theme in May: Wind and Weather!
Our kids enjoyed making wind turbines and kites.
We also explored the rest of the museum where you can explore the mysteries of the electrical world!
Here’s the scoop and what you can expect this week:
The Best Days of The Bakken
The Bakken Museum is heating things up in 2014 with the new STEAM-themed Best Days! Coinciding with the Minneapolis Aquatennial, from July 22nd through July 26th, visitors will enjoy free admission and a bounty of fantastic programming!
Each day will focus on a different part of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math), in hopes to further the community’s interest in these important subjects.
On their website you can explore the different programming scheduled for each day. On Tuesday alone – Science Day – activities include: work with Ferrofluid (huh?), create UV bead jewelry, learn all about the science behind thumbprints, watch a star show, meet a zoologist, check out some real brains and play a genetics game that involves butterflies!
And again – all of this is FOR FREE!
