Disney on Ice presents “Let’s Celebrate!” at the Target Center from February 27th – March 2nd.
We went on Thursday which was opening night and had a fun time! I took Heidi and Thor and our friend Mary from church. Mary is in her 80s and had never seen Disney on Ice before and she LOVED it as much as the kids!
It opened with all the Disney characters coming out including Mickey, Minnie, princesses and princes, Alice in Wonderland and more. Then you went through a variety of holidays starting with a Very Merry Unbirthday Party with Alice and Mad Hatter, Mardi Gras with Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen; a Royal Valentine’s Day Ball with the Disney Princesses; a Hawaiian luau with Lilo & Stitch; a winter wonderland with Woody, Jessie and Buzz Lightyear; and a Halloween haunt with the Disney Villains.
Throughout the show there was a large TV screen with computer animation to enhance the various stories.
A really neat part was the broomstick scene from Fantasia. Mickey magically guided the broomsticks as they danced together on the ice.
The scariest part was the Halloween scene with the villains. Jack Skellington led the “Halloween party” as various Disney villains arrived from Cruella DeVille to Jafar. It was pretty neat but kind of spooky – I looked around and didn’t see little kids that were scared, but parents, take note that even though it’s fun, it can be a bit frightening and eerie (even I thought the ghosts on the TV screen were kind of freaky).
The Royal Valentine’s Day ball was fun as all the princesses and princes performed on the ice with Minnie and the Fairy Godmother.
There were lots of cheers as many of the Toy Story characters came out at Christmastime!
It was a grand finale with all the characters at the end!
What a fun celebration to enjoy with the kids Tickets are still available at http://www.targetcenter.com/.
