Do you feel like your money disappears too quickly every month? Do you feel like there’s a leak in your bank account?
Even frugal people experience “leaks” in their budgets, where little expenses can go unnoticed but add up.
The key is to identify those money wasters in your life so you can trim them and start making ends meet or better yet – save money for the future.
Here is a list of seven common money wasters and how to avoid them.
1. Disorganization
As a working mom with two young kids, I know how hard it is to stay organized! Toys here. Papers there. Busy schedules to manage.
But did you know disorganization can cost you money?
My site has a list of 10 ways organization saves money. For example, having a disorganized home can lead to buying more of the things you already have but didn’t know you had.
Also, a lack of planning can be costly. Not planning meals and grocery shopping in advance can lead to throwing away food and extra trips to the grocery store for last-minute items (seriously, who can go in a store for one item without going home with 10?)
Avoid these costs by setting aside a little time each day to get organized. Tackle one room at a time and sort things into three categories: Purge (throw away), Put away (put where it belongs or file) and Do (take action).
Also, plan your meals, always use a shopping list and shop only once per week.
