Here’s a press release that just came out from Hy-Vee, Inc.
Hy-Vee, an employee-owned grocery retailer, is planning to open grocery stores in the Twin Cities area. This will affect all grocery deal-seekers as new stores = new ways to save on your groceries!
Currently, there are 17 Hy-Vee grocery stores in Minnesota, spread throughout the lower portion of the state including Albert Lea, Faribault, and Mankato.
Sounds like Hy-Vee is adding to the already fiercely competitive grocery market in the Twin Cities. From a recent Star Tribune article:
“Each new Hy-Vee store will be approximately 90,000 square feet and entail an investment of $14 million to $16 million. “That’s a big store,” Dean said, noting that the average Cub Foods outlet is about 70,000 square feet.
Hy-Vee stores have dietitians on staff and feature an 8,000-square-foot space devoted to organic and natural foods. Hy-Vee outlets in the Twin Cities will also feature the company’s Market Grill, a sit-down, full-service restaurant that often features bar service.”
