My kids and I were near Northtown in Coon Rapids yesterday so we shopped at the Just Between Friends Kids and Consignment Sale that was at the old Sports Authority store building. It was day 2 of the 4-day sale so definitely a lot had been sold already, but there was quite a bit left to check out.
We were greeted nicely by a volunteer, then looked around. What a huge sale! Here’s what we saw:
- Racks and racks of kids’ clothes – for ALL ages and sizes plus accessories
- Maternity clothes
- Halloween costumes (I bought a firefighter costume for Thor)
- Kids’ toys (it was hard to pull my kids away from these)
- Arts & crafts
- Books
- Furniture and room decor
- Winter clothes and boots
- Sports equipment
- Baby stuff galore – strollers, car seats, bouncers, and a whole section of baby-only stuff
There were also a few booths where sellers displayed and sold things like Tastefully Simple foods and Thirty-One handbags and accessories.
Prices were fair and reasonable. Prices vary since they’re determined by each consigner. I saw prices from a fraction of the retail price to almost the full retail price (if an item was new or like new). I didn’t find anything bargain-priced, but I know that prices are usually dropped on the last day of the sale.
I talked to a volunteer about how the consignment process works. Anyone can sign up to be a consigner, and you can do it all online. You can price your own items at your computer and print off your own price labels. Then you drop off your items at the sale beforehand and during the sale you can check how many of your items are selling. If you volunteer at the sale you can keep 70% off your sales. If you don’t, it’s 65%. (This may vary between sales.) You can sign up or learn more on the Just Between Friends website. I think it sounds like a great, easy way to get rid of your unwanted kids’ or maternity items and make some money, so I signed up online and created an account so I can do that as well.
Visit a Just Between Friends sale near you! There are usually several in the Twin Cities area each month and they’re definitely worth checking out for just about anything your kids need!
